Since it opened in 1989, HI-Austin has been consistently rated one of the top U.S. hostels. For far less than the cost of a concert ticket, you can stay in our exceptional, waterfront location with a picturesque view of Austin. It is a "must" for budget lodging in Austin and this is Austin's only hostel open all year.
HI-Austin in a non-profit 501(c)3 educational organization, and is a member of the worldwide organization Hostelling International. Our mission is "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling."
Located one-half mile east of Interstate 35 on the waterfront of central Austin's Town Lake, our 39-bed hostel is less than a fifteen minute city bus ride from the live music scene on 6th Street downtown, Barton Springs natural pool, the Mexican freetail bat colony at the Congress St. bridge, or to the University of Texas at Austin.
