Barque PICTON CASTLE
Country Canada
State Nova Scotia
Description The Barque PICTON CASTLE sailed into her home port, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, on June 17, 2006, after an adventure of 30,000 ocean miles and more than 20 ports of call in the trade winds. Her arrival completed her fourth voyage around the world, which had begun May 29, 2005.
Our mission is deep-ocean sail training. Global circumnavigation under sail, which the PICTON CASTLE will again undertake in May 2008, is the grand adventure of a lifetime. Our sail trainees stand watches as members of the crew, sailing the PICTON CASTLE, with workshops in seamanship, navigation, ship and boat handling. Our trainees also have ample time to immerse themselves in the unique cultures of far-flung islands and exotic ports throughout the tropics.
Our next trip starts in late November 2006, when we begin a wonderful 24-week sail through the Caribbean on an island-hopping adventure. Join us—-for two weeks, the whole trip, or anything in between!
